What are macros?

What are macros?
The word “macro” is an abbreviation for the word macronutritent. Macronutrients are a finer form of what makes up your caloric intake. So long story short, your macros are your carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. All 3 of those things, make up your calories for the day.
Calories are a numerical measurement of how much you are ingesting.
It’s basically a big math equation.
Each gram of PROTEIN your consume is equal to 4 calories so 4 oz of shrimp is about 18g of protein therefore 72 cal from protein (18x4=72). Shrimp also has around .5g of fat. EACH g of FAT is equal to 9 cal so 2.25 cal comes from fat (4.5x .5= 2.25). EACH g of CARBOHYDRATES you consume is equal to 4 cal as well. So half of a cup of rice contains 22.5g of carbs, making it around 90 calories.
1 g protein= 4 cal

1g carbs   = 4 cal

1g fat        = 9 cal

All foods are made up of a composite of proteins, carbs + fats. Some foods contain all three, some foods are more made up of one significantly more than the others.
